SUMMARY:The South-North Exchange on Theory\, Culture and Law (SNX)
DESCRIPTION:The South-North Exchange on Theory\, Culture and Law \n  \nCALL FOR PAPERS \nThe South-North Exchange on Theory\, Culture and Law (SNX) \nPromoting Critical Theories and Praxis in the Legal Cultures of the Americas \nMontevideo\, Uruguay\, March 2-3\, 2023 \n  \nOrganized by \nUniversidad Católica del Uruguay \nUniversidad Alberto Hurtado \n  \nSponsored by \nLatin American Legal Studies \nLatina and Latino Critical Legal Theory (LatCrit) \n  \nThe South-North Exchange on Theory\, Culture and Law (SNX) is designed to bring together critical theorists from various disciplines and regions of the hemisphere to discuss problems in the application of theory to current social problems and policy issues. \n  \nThe basic concept is to create a venue focused on South-North relations\, and on issues that affect or constitute South-North polarities\, to strengthen critical theory and praxis in hemispheric terms. \n  \nIn this new version of the SNX we are looking for papers that invite us to reflect on the new challenges\, opportunities and difficulties to influence the legal cultures of the different countries of the continent through the development and promotion of critical legal theories and perspectives. \n  \nIt is in our interest that all selected papers have a comparative law component\, as this helps to influence reflections that transcend the boundaries of a particular legal culture. \n  \nParticularly\, we invite papers across disciplinary boundaries and from all constituencies on the following topics\, as well as other topics you might suggest of relevance to the Global South: \n  \n\nRule of Law.\nHuman Rights.\nNatural Resources and the Environment.\nMinority Rights.\nLegal and Interdisciplinary Education.\n\n  \nThe conference’s proceedings will be held in Spanish and English (with simultaneous translation). \n  \nTo be considered for participation\, please send a brief abstract (not exceeding 500-600 words) of your presentation and your contact information by December 20\, 2022 to: hurojas@uahurtado.cl\, alberto.pino@uai.cl and siv7@pitt.edu. Decisions will be announced in January 2023. \n  \nLatin American Legal Studies will publish a symposium volume to include selected papers from the conference. Please indicate in your abstract if you are interested in this publication opportunity. \n  \nThe face-to-face discussion of the papers will allow participants to revise the latest versions of their presentations\, committing themselves to submit the final text by April 30\, 2023. This will give the editorial team enough time to submit the texts for refereeing\, request changes if necessary\, and move towards the publication of the symposium by Latin American Legal Studies. The selected articles will be published in Spanish and English and Latin American Legal Studies will cover the costs of the respective translations. \n  \nScientific Committee \nAlberto Pino\, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez \nHugo Rojas\, Universidad Alberto Hurtado \nFederico Rosenbaum\, Universidad Católica del Uruguay \nSheila Vélez Martínez\, University of Pittsburgh \nThe conference’s proceedings will be held in Spanish and English (with simultaneous translation). \n  \nFOLLOW US!           \nfacebook.com/SNXLatCrit
